There’s nothing quite like a beautifully manicured lawn.

It’s truly a brilliant sight when leaves turn from green to orange, yellow and red. Surely as the leaves will turn color they will eventually fall onto your lawn, and our crews have removing them down to a science. We use specialized vacuum trucks and equipment to efficiently clean up your property. But we don’t stop at leaves - - Spring and Fall Cleanups also address perennials and ornamental grasses.

There’s nothing like a fresh coat of mulch! Mulch not only beautifies your garden, but also works to help prevent weeds, retain moisture for your plants, maintains an even soil temperature throughout the year, and improves the soil structure. Properly applied, organic mulch adds aesthetic and functional value to your landscape.

“The Waverly Community Center has never looked better. You were remarkably flexible, and that is very important to us. The way you worked with our planners and incorporated their ideas and input into your work was extremely helpful. Even with alterations, everything was done on time and within our budget. Thank you so much for helping us preserve a piece of our community’s history.”

Everyone wants beautiful plants in front of their home, but who has the time to keep them healthy?

We can help with that.

Our team is happy to come to your home and help bring your plants back to life, or give you A+ curbside appeal.

Our experts are well trained in plant selection and will be able to determine which plants will best suite your specific needs. Color, texture, and growth rate are just some of the considerations that should be made when selecting plant material. Factors such as climate, soil, and sun exposure can greatly influence which plants will thrive in certain locations. We stand behind our plantings with a one year warranty.

Our horticulturists and Certified Pesticide Applicators can monitor the health of your plants and identify pests. We offer dormant oil applications, insect and disease control applications and tree and shrub fertilization, and wildlife control such as tick spray, deer spray and mole/vole treatments.

Pruning is essential in maintaining your beautiful plants to ensure nutrients are getting to the healthy portions of your plants, and preventing overgrowth.

Ticks are a growing problem in Northeast Pennsylvania aided by our humid climate and high deer populations. Ticks tend to flourish in wooded areas where hosts are most abundant. The most common tick in our area is the blacklegged tick, Ixodes scapularis, which is often referred to as the deer tick. With the rise in the tick populations comes the need of greater tick control and tick spray applications.

Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever are just a couple of the diseases that spread from ticks. Lyme disease is most common from the nymphal stage which is active during the late spring and summer. There are some steps that can be done to help with tick control.

  • Keeping lawns mowed and shrubs and trees pruned back will help keep ticks at bay.

  • Ticks avoid sunny manicured lawn areas.

  • Clear leaf debris and brush especially along edges of lawn, stone walls, and driveways.

  • Restrict groundcover in high traffic areas. Ticks can often be found in groundcovers such as pachysandra.

  • Wildflower meadows and herbal gardens seem to have few ticks and may be an alternative to grass.

  • Deer activity increases the likelihood of ticks. Fencing and other landscape modifications, as well as deer spray applications to plants, can be used to deter deer.

  • There are also products that can be applied to your lawn and landscape beds to reduce the amount of ticks on your property. Acaricides are pesticides that are often used to control ticks. Acaricides target all members of the arachnid class which also includes spiders and mites.

At AOS, we use an organic spray application that is safe for kids and pets. It is safe to resume activities on your lawn 15 minutes after the product is applied. We recommend applications every 30-60 days during the months you and your pets are most active in your yard.
